Note: personally tested this on our high mileage sluggish Land Cruiser (150,000kms+), after application, the vehicle became a lot more responsive. Specifically at STEP 5, huge amount of smoke from accumulated dirt and oil was noticed being ejected from the tailpipe then engine seemed to sound better and turbo spooling can be clearly heard. Revive should usually be able to improve performance if its caused by soot and oil build up since exhaust and blowby gasses are recirculated to the intake of our modern engines. Easier to use this than to dismantle and clean the turbo..
INSTRUCTIONS:
IMPORTANT: The engine must be cold before starting the process.
Note: Use an assistant to help regulate the engine speed when applying Revive.
1. Remove the air filter or disconnect the air intake hose between the air filter housing and the throttle body. Revive
must be sprayed after (or downstream) of the air filter and the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.
IMPORTANT: Take care not to spray the Revive fluid onto the MAF sensor.
2. STAGE 1 : With the engine running at 2200 RPM, spray in recommended quantity of Revive.
3. STAGE 2 : With the engine running at 1800 RPM, spray in next treatment of Revive.
4. Stop the engine and wait for 5 minutes.
5. STAGE 3 : Start the engine and with the engine speed at 2000 RPM, spray in the final treatment of Revive.
- AT THIS STAGE, a huge puff of smoke will usually come out of the tailpipe, this is a sign that the dirt and soot buildup in your turbo and intake lines are being flushed out.
6. Leave the engine running for a few more minutes to allow the Revive fluid to work its way through the system.
7. If the engine has two separate air intake systems, repeat Steps 1 to 6 for the second intake system.
8. Take the vehicle for a brisk drive of about 20 minutes, at varying RPM and load to exercise the turbocharger
mechanisms, this allows Revive to do its work
What is Revive Turbo Cleaner?
Revive is a safe, water based, non-toxic, non-corrosive and non-flammable fluid that is sprayed into the vehicle’s intake system whilst the engine is running. As the Revive fluid passes through the engine system it locks on to built up oily/carbon deposits and strips away surface layers.
Will Revive fix the problem?
Yes, but it does depend on the cause of the problem, if it is a soot build-up related issue then Revive has a very good record of helping. Your shop may recommend trying Revive first, rather than going down a more expensive repair route. If the buildup is very bad, you may need to apply multiple treatments.
